Fry Cook en 'Una Comida en 30 Minutos'
Hello everyone,
It's been awhile since I've sent out a new cartoon. And here it is. But there's a catch. It's in Spanish! But don't worry to much, just roll over the cartoon and it will translate into English.
Let me know what you all think! Heck, this might be a good way to practice and learn Spanish.

Free Comic Book day at The Comic Bug
What a blast to see all the kiddies and grown ups in line to get their free comics. My pals Javier and Michael were surprised to see how many people showed up to the event. Michael recalled "Man...this is crazy, last year we had only a few people come and now the line is through the door!" Javier was also flabbergasted bringing his collection of Kirby to read 'when things got slow.' Not the case my friends. Maybe the fever for comics coincided with the opening of IRON MAN and everyone was just fresh off the high they got from the movie, who knows. But what I do know is that I did not stop drawing for the 4 hours I was there.
The Crowd at The Comic Bug
Me tirelessly drawing for the fans.
Mikey is 'touched' by a spider!!!
Owners Jun Goeku and MIke Wellman were the most gracious of hosts, making sure the featured comic artists were well fed and watered.
The artists were well represented with the likes of JAVIER HERNANDEZ showing off his new Demolition Dove character as well as his blockbuster El Muerto. MICHAEL AUSHENKER and RAFAEL NAVARRO were up to 'some good', toting their collaboration on the new Pokey book slated to come out this summer. Michael handed out hundreds of free Pokey and Gumby buttons and collectibles to young and old fans. Two tables down, MIKE MIGNOLA of Hellboy fame was touting his involvement in the new Hellboy movie coming out this summer. TED SEKO, creator of ATTACK OF THE SUPERMONSTERS and BILLY COLE was drawing up a storm for the kiddies.
Rafael Navarro and Robbie Martinez in action.
I don't usually draw super hero characters, but I relented and added my brand of humor to them:
After a great and humorous filled afternoon, we were hungry and ended up at a local pizza joint which had some dee-licious food. Here's a pict of the gang:
From left to right: Jerry Boyd, Me, Michael Aushenker, Bernyce Talley and Javier Hernandez.

In the Spirit of Independent Cartooning
Hello Everyone,
A few things I want to share this week.
INDEPENDENCE
The web offers me the freedom and independence of sharing my cartoons without the censorship of a corporate syndicate looking over my shoulder. I like to call it web-syndication which basically means I plug my cartoons to other websites and email my mailing list (like this one). And my marketing and solicitation are very grass roots and organic. By that I mean I collect emails at conventions or get people to subscribe through my website. I do not and will never buy or sell email lists (I find that to be creepy).
HARD DRIVE CRASH
This week unfortunately my hard drive crashed and I lost most of my email contacts (1000+) . You're on this list because I had backed up your email on paper (thank god). So what I'm asking is if you know of anyone who might like to subscribe to my cartoons please send them my way. I've got to rebuild and forge ahead from this minor set back. So thank you.
THANK YOUS
Being an avid web surfer myself, I understand the you have a lot to see on the web and the emails can be overwhelming, so I appreciate your tolerance and patronage. Thank you.
Respectfully yours,
Jose aka Crying Macho Man

Comic Book Festival in EL MONTE!
Ok, so I wasn't able to pay the mortgage this month working this comic show, but I gotta tell ya, I HAD THE BEST TIME OF MY COMIC CONVENTIONEERING CAREER!!!! I got to meet the bestest peeps from the SGV (San Gabriel Valley for those of you who ain't down). Again my pal, Michael Aushenker, was my table buddy and I sat facing the ever loveable Javier Hernandez and the manly Ted Seko!!! And I got to finally meet the fabulous and funny Jim Lujan (check out his stuff here!) You're gonna laugh your ass off and pee your pants at his cartoons. (I'm a big fan!)
All right now, let the pictures do the talking!
I found the the guy who's gonna play El Macho on TV. Introducing Juan Nuñez!
Finally, I get to meet Jim "the Man" Lujan En VIVO, loco!
Me and Omaha Perez with his new baby, "HOLMES" in a collected trade paper back. I just got it and can't wait to read it! Go get your own copy, ya cheap skates!
Here we have Alan Rutledge and Rafael Navarro. Alan is the proprietor of 250,000 comics and counting (but I think his goal is to get rid of them, SO STOP COUNTING ALAN). Rafael is the creator of a cool noir comic called Sonambulo. He can also draw the tits off a cat. (That means he's very good!!!)
This was a self portrait I did in Jim Lujan's sketch book. He thought it was for free but what he don't know is I dun snatched his soul. Just look at the way ma' hand is a tremblin', that some voo-doo sh*t, boyeee!
Dis be Bernyce "I give a damn fine interview" Talley!
I was diggin' Jim Lujan and...ALL RIGHT I confess, he's a loan shark who's on my ass over a gamblin' debt I owe and his "cousin" Ted, is his muscle (guy next to him with large moustache).
Deez fine fellas are Mikey the Strangler, Chillin' Will and the mighty JAVZILLA. BTW dey ain't share wid nobodies dat cake. Greedy sums a beetches!
All right, you got me. I was just goofin' before. Jim is no loan shark! But he do be likin' ta grab other peoples mikes! Watch that Javy! BTW, Jim is gonna be the next guest on Javier's Emmy winning, highly acclaimed BBC radio show PLANET COMIC BOOK RADIO! Listen to it, this Tuesday, April 8th at 5pm or we'll fetch Ted "The Moustahce" after you!
And finally we ended up having dinner at ALBERTO'S! Which is off the map with its juicy, succulent carne asada. However, this muh fukah, in the picture above, kept tryin' to bite into Mikey's taquito while he was in the bathroom...so we let him!
